August 2011 Beer Festival

As ever the fabulous Lion-Hart beer and music festival was on at the White Lion and White Hart Tap over the 2011 August bank holiday weekend.  A stunning line up of nosh, real ales and music was on to soothe the soul over the long holiday weekend.  Excellent BBQ roasts were had over the three days and a superb line-up of bands played all Monday, all of who generously donated their time and fees to help support this year’s charities.

Firstly – and most importantly – beers…

We had a stunning array of over 30 real ales and ciders which you tasted your way through over the weekend – that’s a lot of grog!  Everyone who needed a Ballsup, Sheepshagger or just wanted to be HoleHarted – were satiated and satisfied!

Then food

Three great roasts celebrating the best of British meat were to be had over the three days.  Food was served from around 3pm until the grub ran out (and there was even a veggie option as well).

  • Saturday - scrumptious venison
  • Sunday – succulent lamb
  • Monday – sizzling pork

And lastly, but by no means less importantly – music!

The fantastic line-up of bands included the following great sounds…

  • Mayfire
  • J.Starck and Simon Herries
  • Chuck and the Wagons
  • Trevor and Sian
  • Dr. Shade’s Blues Band
  • The Ballyhoolie Band

Music kicked off in the afternoon on Monday 29th August in the garden of the White Lion. The event was compered by Mike Manera a self-described ‘past-it drunken has-been with no discernible talent!’  So he fitted in quite nicely down here…

All profits from Monday’s barbie plus the generously donated fees from all the bands went to the following two well-deserving charities:

  • Beating Bowel Cancer, and
  • Help for Heroes

The weekend was a wonderful event as we dodged the weather and made merry – check out the photos to see how it was.  Thanks so much for your support!
